Access point positioning

An access point (AP), comprising:

• at least one processor;
• a memory coupled to the at least one processor;
• and
• a set of computer program instructions stored in the memory, which, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to:
• receive a location information of a communication device wirelessly coupled to the AP, the location information comprising a horizontal location having a first horizontal uncertainty with a first confidence level;
• determine a distance between the AP and the communication device;
• and
• determine location information of the AP based at least on the distance and the location information of the communication device, wherein the location information of the AP comprises the horizontal location,
• wherein determining the location information of the AP comprises:
• determining, based on the distance and the first horizontal uncertainty, a second location uncertainty with a second confidence level as at least a portion of the location information of the AP, wherein the second location uncertainty comprises a second horizonal uncertainty with the second confidence level, the second horizonal uncertainty with the second confidence level being determined based on the first horizontal uncertainty and a first horizonal coefficient for converting from the first confidence level to the second confidence level, and the first horizonal coefficient is determined according to probability distribution of horizontal variance.

A computer program product for determining location of an access point (AP), the computer program product comprising non-transitory computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by a processor to cause the processor to:

• receive a location information of a communication device wirelessly coupled to the AP, the location information comprising a horizontal location having a first horizontal uncertainty with a first confidence level;
• determine a distance between the AP and the communication device;
• and
• determine location information of the AP based at least on the distance and the location information of the communication device, wherein the location information of the AP comprises the horizontal location,
• wherein determining the location information of the AP comprises:
• determining, based on the distance and the first horizontal uncertainty, a second location uncertainty with a second confidence level as at least a portion of the location information of the AP, wherein the second location uncertainty comprises a second horizonal uncertainty with the second confidence level, the second horizonal uncertainty with the second confidence level being determined based on the first horizontal uncertainty and a first horizonal coefficient for converting from the first confidence level to the second confidence level, and the first horizonal coefficient is determined according to probability distribution of horizontal variance.
