Abstract

A foldable electronic device is provided. The foldable electronic device includes a first housing and a first antenna arranged in an internal space of the first housing, a second housing and a second antenna symmetrically arranged at the position of the first antenna in an internal space of the second housing, a third antenna arranged to have a radiation direction different from the radiation direction of the first antenna in the internal space of the first housing, a hinge device connecting the first housing and the second housing such that the first housing and the second housing are foldable about a folding axis, a sensor for detecting a first state or a second state for the first housing and the second housing, a switch electrically connected to the first antenna, the second antenna and the third antenna, memory, comprising one or more storage media, storing instructions, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the memory, wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors individually or collectively, cause the foldable electronic device to identify the first state for the first housing and the second housing by using the sensor, in response to the identification of the first state, control the switch such that a communication signal is transmitted using the first antenna and the second antenna, control the switch such that a communication signal is received using the third antenna, and perform adjustment such that a first impedance of a first transmission signal transmitted through the first antenna matches a second impedance of a second transmission signal transmitted through the second antenna.

Dependent claims

A foldable electronic device comprising:

a first housing and a first antenna arranged in an internal space of the first housing;
a second housing and a second antenna symmetrically arranged at the position of the first antenna in an internal space of the second housing;
a third antenna arranged to have a radiation direction different from the radiation direction of the first antenna in the internal space of the first housing;
a hinge device connecting the first housing and the second housing such that the first housing and the second housing are foldable about a folding axis;
a sensor for detecting a first state or a second state for the first housing and the second housing;
a switch electrically connected to the first antenna, the second antenna and the third antenna;
memory, comprising one or more storage media, storing instructions;
and
one or more processors communicatively coupled to the memory,
wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors individually or collectively, cause the foldable electronic device to:
identify the first state for the first housing and the second housing by using the sensor,
in response to the identification of the first state, control the switch such that a communication signal is transmitted using the first antenna and the second antenna,
control the switch such that a communication signal is received using the third antenna, and
perform adjustment such that a first impedance of a first transmission signal transmitted through the first antenna matches a second impedance of a second transmission signal transmitted through the second antenna.

A method for controlling a communication signal in a foldable electronic device, the method comprising:

identifying a first state for a first housing and a second housing constituting a foldable electronic device;
in response to the identification of the first state, controlling a switch such that a communication signal is transmitted using a first antenna arranged in an internal space of a first housing and a second antenna arranged symmetrically to the position of the first antenna in an internal space of the second housing;
controlling the switch such that a communication signal is received using a third antenna arranged to have a different radiation direction from a radiation direction of the first antenna in the internal space of the first housing;
and
