A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a case accommodating the electrode assembly, the case including an opening, a cap plate sealing the opening of the case, a pair of electrode terminals coupled to the cap plate and electrically connected to the electrode assembly, and a protective member between the electrode assembly and the cap plate.

- an electrode assembly;
- a case accommodating the electrode assembly, the case including an opening;
- a cap plate sealing the opening of the case;
- a pair of electrode terminals coupled to the cap plate and electrically connected to the electrode assembly;

- a protective member between the electrode assembly and the cap plate.
