Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a computer implemented method for use in building a transport network map. The method includes accessing a plurality of co-registered satellite images covering a transport network part and identifying, by a computing device, an object in the plurality of co-registered satellite images, based on known visual characteristics specific to the object. The method also includes identifying, by the computing device, a transport route from the plurality of co-registered satellite images, where the transport route includes the transport network part. The method then further includes determining, by the computing device, the transport network part based on time difference(s) between ones of the plurality of co-registered images including the object along the identified transport route.
