Abstract
A waste weighing system includes a weighing scale configured to support a removable waste bin having an open top, and a housing mountable to a wall in a fixed position relative to the scale. The housing carries a user interface on a front surface and a camera on a lower surface positioned below the user interface. The lower surface is inclined upward relative to horizontal so that the camera, oriented substantially normal to the lower surface, is directed downward and away from the wall. When the housing is mounted, the camera is positioned above the waste bin and is configured to capture images of contents within the bin while the bin is supported on the scale.
Claims20
A waste weighing system comprising:
- a weighing scale having a top surface sized to support a removable waste bin that is separate from the weighing scale, the waste bin having an open top;
- a housing defining a rear surface, a front surface and a lower surface;
- a user interface disposed on the front surface of the housing, and
- a camera installed in the lower surface of the housing, the lower surface being below the front surface that carries the user interface;
- wherein the rear surface of the housing is configured for attaching the housing to a wall and maintaining the housing relative to the weighing scale such that the camera is positioned above the waste bin when the waste bin is supported on the weighing scale;
- wherein the lower surface of the housing is inclined upwardly relative to a horizontal plane, and the camera has a line of sight that is substantially normal to the lower surface and is angled downwards away from the wall and into the open top of the waste bin.
A waste weighing system comprising:
- a weighing scale including a top load-support portion configured to allow a separate waste bin to be placed onto the weighing scale, the waste bin having an open top;
- a housing having a front wall and an inclined underside, the front wall carrying a touchscreen display;
- a camera mounted in the inclined underside;
- and
- a support structure for positioning the housing above the weighing scale such that the camera is located about 50 cm to about 70 cm above the open top of the waste bin when the waste bin is supported on the weighing scale, and the camera is oriented at the inclined underside so as to look downwardly into the open top of the waste bin.
