Abstract
A controller for controlling an energy discharge from an energy saving device to a power grid. The system includes decision logic to implement a local response responsive to events currently occurring in a power grid and in addition remote commands sent from a remote location.

1-22. (canceled)
A computer-implemented method executed by a controller of an energy storage device connected to an electric power grid, the method comprising:
- 1. allocating, by the controller, portions of an available energy capacity of the energy storage device to a plurality of response types including at least a response to a grid imbalance condition and a response to a remote command for execution of an ancillary service;
- 2. receiving at least one remote command from a remote location;
- 3. identifying a grid imbalance condition corresponding to a power generation deficit;
- 4. determining a first response associated with the grid imbalance condition and a second response associated with the at least one remote command;
- 5. controlling injection of energy from the energy storage device into the electric power grid to execute the first response and the second response, wherein the first response and the second response are executed concurrently at least in part;
- 6. wherein injection of energy associated with the first response and the second response is controlled in accordance with the portions of the available energy capacity allocated to the respective response types.
