Process and system for collecting images and identifying children and newborns

A process for the collection and identification of children and newborns, comprising the following stages:

• capture capturing images by means of a biometric reading device with a resolution greater than 1500 DPI;
• collecting the images through a collecting system, and after the collecting, sending the images to a storage system that is accessible by other systems for viewing, consultation, revision, and/or fingerprint confrontation;
• treating the images collected by the biometric reading device using a computational processing module present in a digital data collection subsystem, performing the functions of configuring and filtering, normalizing and processing the images using image processing methods;
• wherein performing the functions of configuring and filtering comprises collecting the images by the biometric reading device, and each collected image undergoes a processing step that crops an area of interest in the image and performs conversions to normalize the image intensities;
• providing and displaying the images and information collected to the user and perform performing real-time checks, the real time checks including analyzing the previously configured images using a neural network that has been trained using a set of collected images that were initially annotated and then semi-assisted using previous results, annotating the images according to their quality, and, based on this data, training and optimizing a set of neural networks to operate simultaneously with the capturing step;
• evaluating scores based on the classes of valleys, dirt, and trained minutiae that have been segmented;
• capturing individual images of each fingerprint, accumulating the captured images to form a collection of a set of fingerprints, the collection typically containing images of each of the five fingerprints of the left hand and the five fingerprints of the right hand, as well as the palmprints and footprints;
• performing further checks and conversions on the set of fingerprint images to validate their quality,
• calibrating the system to improve the quality of the information collected, and to request a new image capture if pre-established required conditions are not met, in which a selected set of images is configured using recognized minutiae extractors;
• and then
• by using a parameterization process, reconstructing the images from a combination of frames, image alignment and a trained network for image combination and reconstruction;
• entering biographical data into the validated set of images, such as name, mother, father, and certificate of live birth;
• storing the validated set of images locally in a storage and transmission component and, when transmission is available, sending the validated image set to the storage and consulting system that acts as a repository for storing, maintaining and consulting the images and information collected, by means of an interface for storing, an interface for consulting, and an interface for viewing and management;
• interacting with the interface for consulting and the interface for viewing and management via web services to enable storage and, if necessary, comparisons for fingerprint matching and operate these same web services by integrating them with other consulting and collecting systems;
• and
• making the system available via a web page component to allow direct viewing and management of the system by authorized users.
