Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus comprising:

• (i) a developing device including:
• a roller that carries toner;
• an accommodating portion configured to accommodate the toner for being carried on the roller;
• a first electrode and a second electrode opposed to each other in the accommodating portion;
• and
• a stirring member configured to stir the toner in the accommodating portion, wherein the stirring member is rotated so that the toner is supplied to between the first electrode and the second electrode;
• and
• (ii) a main assembly to which the developing device is mounted, the main assembly including:
• a voltage applying portion configured to apply an AC voltage to the first electrode and the second electrode;
• an output portion configured to output a signal depending on capacitance between the first electrode and the second electrode;
• an adjusting portion configured to adjust at least one of the output portion and the voltage applying portion;
• an acquiring portion configured to acquire an acquisition value based on the signal;
• a notifying portion configured to notify information on a remaining toner amount of the accommodating portion, depending on the acquisition value;
• and a controller configured to control the voltage applying portion, the output portion, the adjusting portion, and the acquiring portion,
• wherein in a case where a signal output by the output portion when a stirring operation by the stirring member is performed is a first signal, an acquisition value based on the first signal is a first acquisition value, and a signal output by the output portion when the stirring operation is not performed is a second signal,
• (a) the adjusting portion makes adjustment of at least one of the output portion and the voltage applying portion so that strength of the second signal falls within a predetermined range, and
• (b) the notifying portion makes notification depending on the first acquisition value based on the first signal output by the output portion in a state in which the adjustment is made and the strength of the second signal is within the predetermined range.
