Abstract
A method and system for controlling a specimen analysis system including at least one measurement unit according to one or more embodiments is disclosed. The method may include automatically starting at least one measurement unit according to a schedule registered by a user; automatically supplying a quality control specimen to the measurement unit that is automatically started; and measuring the quality control specimen by the measurement unit.

A blood analysis system configured to automatically perform a quality control measurement to assure a quality of measurement of a blood sample, the blood analysis system comprising:
- a plurality of blood cell analyzers, wherein each blood cell analyzer is configured to perform a test on the blood sample for one or more items, wherein the one or more items include WBC (white blood cell count), RBC (red blood cell count), HGB (hemoglobin content), HCT (hematocrit value), MCV (mean corpuscular volume), MCH (mean corpuscular hemoglobin), MCHC (mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration), PLT (platelet count), NEUT (neutrophil count), LYMPH (lymphocyte count), MONO (monocyte count), EO (eosinophil count), BASO (basophil count), or a combination thereof;
- a supply unit configured to supply at least one first container containing a quality control specimen and at least one second container containing the blood sample, wherein the supply unit comprises a storage configured to store a plurality of the first containers in a cooled state, and wherein the quality control specimen contains blood cells of a predetermined concentration;
- a transporter configured to transport the at least one first container and the at least one second container between the supply unit and the plurality of blood cell analyzers, and
- a controller configured to control transport of the at least one first container to automatically perform the quality control measurement corresponding to a scheduled time, wherein:
- (1) the supply unit is configured to retrieve at least one first container from the storage and place the at least one retrieved first container outside the storage for a predetermined time, thereby increasing a temperature of the quality control specimen in the at least one retrieved first container;
- (2) the transporter is configured to transport, from the supply unit, the at least one retrieved first container containing the temperature-increased quality control specimen to the plurality of blood cell analyzers;
- (3) the plurality of blood cell analyzers are respectively configured to perform a quality control measurement on the quality control specimen contained in the transported first container, wherein a result of the quality control measurement is compared with a predetermined range;
- (4) the transporter is configured to transport, from the supply unit, the second container to at least one of the plurality of blood cell analyzers that has passed the quality control measurement by having the result within the predetermined range;
- and
- (5) the at least one blood cell analyzer is configured to perform the test on the blood sample contained in the transported second container.
A blood analysis method performed by a blood analysis system comprising a plurality of blood cell analyzers, and a storage storing a plurality of first containers each containing a quality control specimen in a cooled state, the method comprising:
- (1) automatically retrieving at least one first container from the storage corresponding to a scheduled time, and placing the at least one retrieved first container outside the storage for a predetermined time, thereby increasing a temperature of the quality control specimen in the at least one retrieved first container;
- (2) automatically transporting the at least one first container containing the temperature-increased quality control specimen to the plurality of blood cell analyzers;
- (3) measuring, by the plurality of blood cell analyzers, the quality control specimen contained in the transported first container to perform a quality control measurement;
- (4) comparing a result of the quality control measurement with a predetermined range;
- (5) transporting a second container containing a blood sample to at least one of the plurality of blood cell analyzers that has passed the quality control measurement by having the result within the predetermined range;
- and
- (6) measuring, by the at least one blood cell analyzer to which the second container is transported, the blood sample contained in the second container for one or more items,
- wherein the one or more items include WBC (white blood cell count), RBC (red blood cell count), HGB (hemoglobin content), HCT (hematocrit value), MCV (mean corpuscular volume), MCH (mean corpuscular hemoglobin), MCHC (mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration), PLT (platelet count), NEUT (neutrophil count), LYMPH (lymphocyte count), MONO (monocyte count), EO (eosinophil count), BASO (basophil count), or a combination thereof.
