A float assembly for a tubing string includes a sleeve, a poppet valve, and a shifting assembly. The sleeve can move from an open condition to a closed condition, controlling fluid flow through a bypass pathway via a bypass port in the sleeve. The valve (e.g., poppet valve) within the sleeve permits downbore fluid flow while preventing upbore fluid flow. Downstream, a shifting assembly in the sleeve allows upbore fluid flow when the shifting assembly is in a first condition. When in a second condition, the shifting assembly at least restricts downbore flow so the shifting assembly can shift the sleeve to close the bypass pathway once the fluid flow exceeds a first threshold. The shifting assembly can then be released to allow for unrestricted flow when a second threshold is exceeded.
