Intensifier ram blowout preventer

An intensifier ram blowout preventer, comprising:

• a plurality of upper housings, wherein each of said plurality of upper housings comprises a plurality of ramped catches at top and a plurality of ramped feet at bottom, with at least one of said upper housings rotatably and interchangeably connected to another of said upper housings by inserting and twisting together said ramped catches and said ramped feet at top and bottom of said upper housings, and with each of said upper housings containing in its upper portion a space housing an intensifier piston;
• a lower housing, wherein said lower housing comprises a plurality of ramped catches at top to rotatably and interchangeably connect to one of said upper housings and with said lower housing connecting to other components of a blowout preventer stack via standard flanged connector at bottom, and with said lower housing housing an intensifier piston, wherein each of said upper and lower housings enable rapid and secure assembly and disassembly through rotatable joining of said ramped catches and said ramped feet;
• ram modules, each ram module having a ram module housing positioned within said upper housing;
• and
• a pair of check valves positioned between said upper housing and said ram module housing,
• wherein said check valves interface with each other such as to open when pressed against each other and enable two-way fluid flow and further enable fluid communication through fluid passageways formed in said upper housing and said ram module housing thereby enabling blowout preventer actuation, and
• wherein said check valves close to disable fluid flow when pulled apart and not pressed against each other, and when pulled apart, each of said check valves prevents fluid egress during assembly or disassembly.

A method of operating an intensifier ram blowout preventer, said method comprising the steps of:

• providing at least one upper housing;
• providing at least one lower housing connected to said at least one upper housing;
• providing at least one intensifier piston;
• providing ram module housings, each ram module housing positioned within said at least one upper housing;
• providing a pair of check valves positioned between said at least one upper housing and said ram module housing;
• attaching said at least one upper housing to said at least one lower housing while an intensifier piston of said intensifier ram blowout preventer encircles a wellbore;
• positioning said check valves interfacing with each other, and aligning with fluid passageways formed in said at least one upper housing and said ram module housing;
• interfacing said check valves with each other to open when pressed against each other and enable two-way fluid flow and further enable fluid communication through fluid passageways formed in said upper housing and said ram module housing thereby enabling blowout preventer actuation;
• and
• closing said check valves to disable fluid flow when pulled apart and not pressed against each other, and when pulled apart, each of said check valves prevents fluid egress during assembly or disassembly.
