Abstract
A method of extracting one or more metals from an aqueous solution includes forming a heterogeneous solution including a polyamide and the aqueous solution including the one or more metals therein, such that the polyamide sorbs at least some of the one or more metals in the aqueous solution. The method includes removing the polyamide from the heterogeneous solution to form a post-extracted solution having a lower concentration of the one or more metals than the aqueous solution. The polyamide is an amidization product of one or more polyamines and a polyacid, polyacid ester, or polyacyl halide.

A method of extracting one or more metals from an aqueous solution, the method comprising:
- forming a heterogeneous solution comprising a polyamide and the aqueous solution comprising the one or more metals therein, such that the polyamide sorbs at least some of the one or more metals in the aqueous solution;
- and
- removing the polyamide from the heterogeneous solution to form a post-extracted solution having a lower concentration of the one or more metals than the aqueous solution;
- wherein the polyamide is an amidization product of one or more polyamines and a polyacid, polyacid ester, or polyacyl halide.
A method of extracting one or more metals from an aqueous solution, the method comprising:
- forming a heterogeneous solution comprising a solid polyamide and the aqueous solution comprising the one or more metals therein, such that the polyamide sorbs at least some of the one or more metals in the aqueous solution, wherein the solid polyamide is substantially insoluble in the aqueous solution, and wherein the one or more metals comprise La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Ca, Co, Mg, Mn, Ni, or a combination thereof;
- and
- removing the polyamide from the heterogeneous solution to form a post-extracted solution having a lower concentration of the one or more metals than the aqueous solution;
- wherein the polyamide is an amidization product of one or more polyamines and diglycolic acid.
