Abstract
One embodiment provides a disposable container. The disposable container may include one or more dissolvable layers defining the disposable container. An outer layer may be disposed over the one or more dissolvable layers, a portion of the outer layer including an impermeable coating. The disposable container may include a raised bottom extending above a lip. An exterior surface of the raised bottom may not be coated with the impermeable coating, facilitating dissolution of the disposable container beginning with the exterior surface of the raised bottom upon exposure to liquid or moisture.

A disposable container, comprising:
- one or more dissolvable layers defining the disposable container;
- an outer layer disposed over the one or more dissolvable layers, a portion of the outer layer comprising an impermeable coating;
- and
- a raised bottom extending above a lip of the disposable container, wherein an exterior surface of the raised bottom is not coated with the impermeable coating thereby facilitating dissolution of the disposable container beginning with the exterior surface of the raised bottom upon exposure to liquid or moisture.
A dissolvable container, comprising:
- a biodegradable and water-soluble shell defining the dissolvable container sized to accommodate a volume of a consumable, the shell comprising walls extending upward from a closed bottom;
- an exterior water-insoluble layer coating an exterior surface of the walls of the shell;
- and
- an interior water-insoluble layer coating an interior surface of the shell, wherein one or more portions of the exterior surface comprising the closed bottom are not coated with the exterior water-insoluble layer thereby promoting dissolution of the dissolvable container upon exposure to liquid or moisture.
A method of forming a dissolvable container, comprising:
- forming the dissolvable container from one or more dissolvable layers;
- coating a portion of the dissolvable container with an impermeable coating;
- and
- preventing an exterior surface of a raised bottom that extends above a lip of the dissolvable container from being coated with the impermeable coating, wherein the raised bottom facilitates dissolution of the dissolvable container beginning with the exterior surface of the raised bottom upon exposure to liquid or moisture.
