Abstract
The carbonation process includes providing steam in contact with a calcium-containing reactant in a curing chamber in a first stage; and providing carbon dioxide (CO2) in contact with the calcium-containing reactant in the curing chamber in a second stage, wherein the first stage is an open loop and the second stage is a closed loop.
Claims20
A carbonation process, comprising:
- providing steam in contact with a calcium-containing reactant in a first stage curing chamber in a first stage to produce a partially hydrated calcium-containing reactant, wherein the first stage is an open loop;
- and
- providing carbon dioxide (CO2) in contact with the partially hydrated calcium-containing reactant in a second stage curing chamber in a second stage, wherein the second stage is a closed loop wherein exhaust from the second stage curing chamber is recirculated to an input of CO2 for the second stage curing chamber.
