Abstract
A system for separating a mixture of materials includes a first recirculation loop including at least one separation station. The at least one separation station has an inlet configured to receive the mixture of materials and at least a first and a second outlet. The first outlet is coupled to the inlet via a shredder and the second outlet is coupled to at least one holding bunker. The system also includes a second recirculation loop including at least one separation station. The at least one separation station has an inlet coupled to the at least one holding bunker and at least a first and a second outlet. The first outlet is coupled to the at least one holding bunker and the second outlet is coupled to a discharge bunker. A method is also provided.

A system for separating a mixture of materials, the system comprising:
- a first recirculation loop including at least one separation station, the at least one separation station having an inlet configured to receive the mixture of materials and at least a first and a second outlet, the first outlet coupled to the inlet via a shredder and the second outlet coupled to at least one holding bunker;
- and
- a second recirculation loop including at least one separation station, the at least one separation station having an inlet coupled to the at least one holding bunker and at least a first and a second outlet, the first outlet coupled to the at least one holding bunker and the second outlet coupled to a discharge bunker.
A method for separating a mixture of materials, the method comprising:
- separating the mixture of materials into a first material stream and a second material stream,
- shredding and returning the first material stream for further separation,
- directing the second material stream to at least one holding bunker,
- separating materials from the at least one holding bunker into a third material stream and a fourth material stream,
- returning the third material stream to the at least one holding bunker, and
- directing the fourth material stream to at least one discharge bunker.
