Method and System for Controlling a Vehicle Display

A method for controlling a display duration of a proactive message on a display device of a vehicle, said method comprising:

• receiving a trigger event from the vehicle to provide the proactive message to a user of the vehicle;
• providing the proactive message on the display device of the vehicle to the user of the vehicle;
• detecting a gaze direction of the user of the vehicle by an interior camera of the vehicle after the proactive message is provided on the display device of the vehicle;
• and
• when the detected gaze direction of the user is pointing towards a position of the proactive message on the display device of the vehicle:
• activating an expiry presentation of the provided proactive message;
• and
• removing the provided proactive message on the display device after the expiry presentation of the provided proactive message has expired.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium for controlling a display duration of a proactive message on a display device of a vehicle, wherein the computer-readable medium comprises instructions which, when executed on a control unit causes the control unit to:

• receive a trigger event from the vehicle to provide the proactive message to a user of the vehicle;
• provide the proactive message on the display device of the vehicle to the user of the vehicle;
• detect a gaze direction of the user of the vehicle by an interior camera of the vehicle after the proactive message is provided on the display device of the vehicle;
• and
• when the detected gaze direction of the user is pointing towards a position of the proactive message on the display device of the vehicle:
• activate an expiry presentation of the provided proactive message;
• and
• remove the provided proactive message on the display device after the expiry presentation of the provided proactive message has expired.

A vehicle comprising a system for controlling a display duration of a proactive message on a display device of the vehicle, the system comprising a control unit configured to:

• receive a trigger event from the vehicle to provide the proactive message to a user of the vehicle;
• provide the proactive message on the display device of the vehicle to the user of the vehicle;
• detect a gaze direction of the user of the vehicle by an interior camera of the vehicle after the proactive message is provided on the display device of the vehicle;
• and
• when the detected gaze direction of the user is pointing towards a position of the proactive message on the display device of the vehicle:
• activate an expiry presentation of the provided proactive message;
• and
• remove the provided proactive message on the display device after the expiry presentation of the provided proactive message has expired.
