In a golf ball including a core, an intermediate layer, and a cover, letting Shore C hardnesses at a core surface, an 87.5% outer position, a 50% outer position, and a 12.5% outer position of a core radius from a core center be H100, H87.5, H50, and H12.5 respectively, and a Shore C hardness at the core center be H0, the following conditions are satisfied: ( H 87.5 - H 50 ) / ( H 50 - H 12.5 ) ≥ 3.5 deflection of core ( CT ) > ( H 100 - H 50 ) / ( H 50 - H 0 ) ( hardness of intermediate layer material - hardness of cover material ) - ( surface hardness of intermediate layer - encased sphere - ( H 62.5 ) ≥ - 2 (where the material hardnesses and the surface hardness indicate Shore C values), and further, the dimples have a volume occupancy ratio (VR) of from 0.75 to 0.89%.
A multi-piece solid golf ball comprising a core, an intermediate layer, and a cover, wherein a plurality of dimples are formed on an outside surface of the cover, and in a hardness profile of the core, letting a Shore C hardness at a surface of the core be H100, the Shore C hardness at a position outside by 87.5% of a core radius from a core center be H87.5, the Shore C hardness at a position outside by 75% of the core radius from the core center be H75, the Shore C hardness at a position outside by 62.5% of the core radius from the core center be H62.5, the Shore C hardness at a position outside by 50% of the core radius from the core center be H50, the Shore C hardness at a position outside by 37.5% of the core radius from the core center be H37.5, the Shore C hardness at a position outside by 25% of the core radius from the core center be H25, the Shore C hardness at a position outside by 12.5% of the core radius from the core center be H12.5, and the Shore C hardness at the core center be H0, the following condition is satisfied:
