Extracorporeal blood treatment tubing set and apparatus

An extracorporeal blood treatment tubing set for an extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus, the extracorporeal blood treatment tubing set comprising:

• a blood treatment unit;
• a fluid circuit coupled to the blood treatment unit, the fluid circuit including:
• an extracorporeal blood circuit with a blood withdrawal line connected to an inlet port of the blood treatment unit and a blood return line connected to an outlet port of the blood treatment unit, and
• a treatment fluid circuit operatively connected to the extracorporeal blood circuit and/or to the blood treatment unit;
• and
• a fluid warming/cooling bag coupled to the fluid circuit and comprising:
• a first inlet port,
• a first outlet port,
• a first fluid conduit configured for putting the first inlet port in fluid communication with the first outlet port,
• a second inlet port,
• a second outlet port, and
• a second fluid conduit configured for putting the second inlet port in fluid communication with the second outlet port, the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit being fluidically separated from each other.

An extracorporeal blood treatment tubing set for an extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus, the extracorporeal blood treatment tubing set comprising:

• a blood treatment unit;
• a fluid circuit coupled to the blood treatment unit, the fluid circuit including:
• an extracorporeal blood circuit with a blood withdrawal line connected to an inlet port of the blood treatment unit and a blood return line connected to an outlet port of the blood treatment unit, and
• a treatment fluid circuit operatively connected to the extracorporeal blood circuit and/or to the blood treatment unit;
• and
• a fluid warming/cooling bag coupled to the fluid circuit and comprising:
• a first inlet port,
• a first outlet port,
• a first fluid conduit configured for putting the first inlet port in fluid communication with the first outlet port,
• a second inlet port,
• a second outlet port, and
• a second fluid conduit configured for putting the second inlet port in fluid communication with the second outlet port, the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit being fluidically separated from each other,
• wherein the fluid warming/cooling bag is flat and flexible and is made of two sealed flexible plastic films, the sealing defining each of the first and second fluid conduits, and
• wherein the first conduit and second fluid conduits are flat when no fluid flows therein and configured to assume a three-dimensional shape as fluid swells the first and second fluid conduits.

An extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus comprising:

• a blood treatment unit;
• a fluid circuit coupled to the blood treatment unit, the fluid circuit including:
• an extracorporeal blood circuit with a blood withdrawal line connected to an inlet port of the blood treatment unit and a blood return line connected to an outlet port of the blood treatment unit, and
• a treatment fluid circuit operatively connected to the extracorporeal blood circuit and/or to the blood treatment unit;
• a fluid pump coupled to the fluid circuit to determine a fluid flow inside the fluid circuit;
• a controller configured to control the fluid pump;
• a fluid temperature control device coupled to the fluid circuit and comprising:
• a receptacle, and
• a heat exchange region;
• and
• a fluid warming/cooling bag configured to be accommodated in the receptacle of the fluid temperature control device, the fluid warming/cooling bag being coupled to the fluid circuit and comprising:
• a first inlet port,
• a first outlet port,
• a first fluid conduit configured for putting the first inlet port in fluid communication with the first outlet port,
• a second inlet port,
• a second outlet port, and
• a second fluid conduit configured for putting the second inlet port in fluid communication with the second outlet port, the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit being fluidically separated from each other,
• wherein, when the fluid warming/cooling bag is accommodated in the receptacle, and
• wherein the fluid temperature control device is configured to effect a heat exchange with two separate fluids inside each of the first and second fluid conduits of the warming/cooling bag through the corresponding fluid conduit for simultaneously determining a heat exchange with the two separate fluids inside the first and second fluid conduits of the warming/cooling bag.
