A substance that reduces an expression of a CAPRIN-1 protein on a membrane surface of a cancer cell, specifically a substance that reduces an expression level of the CAPRIN-1 protein on the membrane surface of the cancer cell, or a substance that binds to the CAPRIN-1 protein on the membrane surface of the cancer cell can be used as an active ingredient of a pharmaceutical composition for treating and/or preventing a cancer.

A pharmaceutical composition for treating and/or preventing a cancer, comprising as an active ingredient a substance that reduces an expression of a CAPRIN-1 protein on a membrane surface of a cancer cell.
