Abstract
A composition includes a lysosomal ABCA1 inhibitor. The composition inhibits the transport of cellular ABCA1 to lysosomes or suppresses ABCA1 within lysosomes, by including the lysosomal ABCA1 inhibitor, thereby inhibiting lysosomal cholesterol accumulation and the production of senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) factors. Therefore, the composition can be used for inhibit age-related inflammation, and prevent, improve or treat age-related musculoskeletal disorders.

A method for treating an age-related musculoskeletal disorder, the method comprising:
- administering an effective amount of a lysosomal ABCA1 inhibitor to a subject in need thereof.
A method for alleviating an age-related musculoskeletal disorder, the method comprising:
- providing for consumption a health functional food comprising an effective amount of a lysosomal ABCA1 inhibitor to a subject in need thereof.
A method for diagnosing an age-related musculoskeletal disorder, the method comprising:
- screening a therapeutic agent for an age-related musculoskeletal disorder by treating isolated cells with a candidate substance to determine whether the activity of lysosomal ABCA1 is inhibited;
- and
- administering an effective amount of the screened therapeutic agent to a subject in need thereof.
A method for diagnosing and treating an age-related musculoskeletal disorder, the method comprising:
- treating a sample isolated from a subject with an agent that specifically binds to lysosomal ABCA1 mRNA or a protein encoded thereby;
- measuring the expression level or activity of lysosomal ABCA1 mRNA or a protein encoded thereby in the sample to diagnose the age-related musculoskeletal disorder;
- and
- administering a therapeutic agent to a subject diagnosed with the age-related musculoskeletal disorder
