Abstract
In a method of treating a heart valve, a catheter is inserted into a heart. A device is deployed from the catheter into the heart. The device has a plurality of paddles that each include an inner paddle portion and an outer paddle portion. The paddles are moved to a partially open position. The device is moved such that the inner paddle portions engage leaflets of a native heart valve. The leaflets are pierced and one or more anchors are moved through the leaflets. The device is removed, leaving the one or more sutures attached to the leaflets.

A method of treating a heart valve comprising:
- inserting a catheter delivery system into a heart;
- deploying a device from the catheter delivery system into the heart, the device comprising a plurality of paddles;
- moving the plurality of paddles into a partially open position;
- moving the device such that the plurality of paddles engage leaflets of the heart valve;
- piercing a first one of the leaflets of the heart valve;
- moving a first anchor and a portion of an attached first suture through the first one of the leaflets;
- piercing a second one of the leaflets of the native heart valve;
- moving a second anchor and a portion of an attached second suture through the second one of the leaflets;
- removing the device from the heart;
- pulling the first suture and the second suture proximally;
- and
- locking the first suture and the second suture together.
A method of treating a heart valve comprising:
- inserting a first catheter into a heart;
- deploying a device from the first catheter into a chamber of the heart in a fully open position, wherein:
- the device has a plurality of paddles that each include an inner paddle portion and an outer paddle portion;
- the outer paddle portion extends away from the inner paddle portion in the fully open position;
- moving the plurality of paddles into a partially open position;
- moving the device with the first catheter such that the inner paddle portions engage a ventricular side of leaflets of the heart valve;
- piercing a first one of the leaflets of the heart valve with a second catheter;
- moving a first anchor and a portion of an attached first suture through the second catheter and through the first one of the leaflets;
- expanding the first anchor on a ventricular side of the first one of the leaflets;
- piercing a second one of the leaflets of the heart valve;
- moving a second anchor and a portion of an attached second suture through the second one of the leaflets;
- expanding the second anchor on a ventricular side of the second one of the leaflets;
- removing the device from the heart;
- pulling the first suture and the second suture proximally through a suture locking device;
- locking the first suture and the second suture together with the suture locking device.
A system of treating a heart valve comprising:
- a first catheter configured to be inserted into a chamber of a heart;
- a removable device comprising a plurality of paddles, a paddle of the plurality of paddles comprising an inner paddle portion and an outer paddle portion;
- wherein the plurality of paddles are configured to move between a fully open position, where the inner paddle portion and outer paddle portion extend away from each other, and a partially open position, where the inner paddle portion and the outer paddle portion are moved toward each other;
- a second catheter disposed within the first catheter, the second catheter comprising a sharp distal end configured to pierce one or more of the leaflets of the native heart valve;
- an implantable device comprising:
- a first anchor and an attached first suture, wherein:
- the first anchor and the attached suture is adapted to move through the second catheter and through a first one of the leaflets of the native heart valve;
- and
- the first anchor is adapted to be expanded on a ventricular side of the first one of the leaflets.
