Abstract
Solid acidic effervescent compositions providing antimicrobial efficacy with desired dissolution times are disclosed. Pressed solid acid tablets with effervescent characteristics to readily dissolve in water for use as an antimicrobial composition, including for various hard surface cleaning applications, including for consumer and institutional uses as disinfectants, are further disclosed. Aqueous solutions and methods of using aqueous solutions of the solid acid tablets are also disclosed.

A solid tablet composition comprising:
- a solid organic acid or salt thereof;
- a sulfate and/or sulfonate anionic surfactant;
- an alkali metal carbonate and/or bicarbonate effervescent base;
- and at least one additional functional ingredient.
