An automatic hook-setting rod holder includes a base, a biased rod-receiving member, and a trigger mechanism with a leveraged sear that reduces the influence of primary biasing friction. A primary sensitivity assembly allows manual threshold adjustment through a biasing torque that offsets rod pressure. The trigger mechanism includes a multi-arm sear for hybrid triggering, which enables actuation through rod-tip deflection or a direct fishing line pull at various leverage ratios. Sensitivity is further adjustable by longitudinally repositioning the fishing rod to vary the torque applied to the trigger relative to a fixed fulcrum. The rod-receiving member includes a retention section that functions as the fixed fulcrum to amplify rod deflection while preventing rod ejection. The sensitivity assembly also includes a lockout state for converting the device into a stationary rod holder.
