System and method of agrochemical delivery to a leaf using electromagnetic radiation

Abstract

A method of applying agrochemicals directly to plants is provided. The method includes means to remove the waxy cuticle from a small area of the leaf of a plant, applying chemicals to the leaf at the point where the cuticle is removed, so as to directly apply medicants, fertilizers and other chemicals to the circulation system of the plant, without requiring the chemicals to penetrate the leaf's natural protective systems. The method further comprises the placement of a biodegradable patch on the leaf, after the application of the agrichemicals, so as to keep the chemicals in place while they are absorbed by the leaf and to protect the leaf from damage due to the removal of the waxy cuticle. The system provides for the use of handheld apparatus, robotic and gantry systems and via drone, to cover all manner and size of plants and fields.
