According to various implementations of the invention, a method for fabricating a Josephson Junction comprises: forming at least one trilayer monolith from a trilayer of a top high-temperature superconducting (“HTS”) layer, an insulator, and a bottom HTS later, the trilayer monolith formed by removing a portion of the top HTS layer and a portion of the insulator layer to expose the bottom HTS layer; forming at least one wire in the bottom HTS layer by removing a portion of the bottom HTS layer; growing a second insulator layer over the at least one trilayer monolith formed from the trilayer and the at least one wire formed in the bottom HTS layer; forming at least one via hole in the second insulator layer to reveal at least one component underlying the second insulator layer; growing a top HTS wiring layer over the second insulator and the underlying component; and forming at least one wire in the top HTS wiring layer.
