Abstract
Systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for a user equipment (UE) to know whether a network supports UE route selection policy (URSP) provisioning in an evolved packet system (EPS). For example, a UE may receive an indication of a capability of a session management function (SMF) and/or a packet data network (PDN) gateway-control plane function (PGW-C) to support UE route selection policy (URSP) provisioning in an EPS extended Protocol Configuration Options (ePCO). The UE may send a request for a bearer resource modification based on the indication. The request may include a UE policy container. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media having instructions, stored thereon, that when executed by one or more processors configure a user equipment (UE) to:
- receive an indication of a capability of a session management function (SMF) and/or a packet data network (PDN) gateway-control plane function (PGW-C) to support UE route selection policy (URSP) provisioning in an evolved packet system (EPS);
- and
- send a request for a bearer resource modification based on the indication.
An apparatus of a user equipment (UE), the apparatus comprising:
- a memory to store UE route selection policy (URSP) information;
- and
- processor circuitry coupled to the memory, the processor circuitry to:
- send a packet data network (PDN) connectivity request;
- receive a response based on the PDN connectivity request, wherein the response includes an indication that a session management function (SMF) and a PDN gateway-control plane function (PGW-C) supports URSP provisioning in an evolved packet system (EPS);
- and
- initiate a UE request bearer resource modification procedure based on the indication.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable media having instructions, stored thereon, that when executed by one or more processors configure a session management function (SMF) and/or a packet data network (PDN) gateway-control plane function (PGW-C) to:
- receive a PDN connectivity request from a user equipment (UE), an indicator of extended protocol configuration options (ePCO) capability;
- and
- send, based on the ePCO, an indication that the SMF and/or PGW-C supports UE route selection policy (URSP) provisioning in an evolved packet system (EPS) ePCO.
