Abstract
There is provided a wireless end-user device including a wireless wide-area network (WWAN) modem configured to communicate data over a WWAN, a wireless local area network (WLAN) modem configured to communicate with a plurality of client devices, and a processor. The processor is configured to determine whether forwarding of data between the WWAN and the plurality of client devices is permitted based on a network policy, and in response to determining that forwarding is permitted, forward data between the WWAN and the plurality of client devices via the WLAN modem while applying respective network usage policies for each of the plurality of client devices.
Claims18
A wireless end-user device comprising:
- a wireless wide-area network (WWAN) modem configured to communicate data over a WWAN;
- a wireless local area network (WLAN) modem configured to communicate with a plurality of client devices;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- determine whether forwarding of data between the WWAN and the plurality of client devices is permitted based on a network policy;
- and
- in response to determining that forwarding is permitted, forward data between the WWAN and the plurality of client devices via the WLAN modem while applying respective network usage policies for each of the plurality of client devices.
A method for use by a wireless end-user device including a wireless wide-area network (WWAN) modem configured to communicate data over a WWAN and a wireless local area network (WLAN) modem configured to communicate with a plurality of client devices, the method comprising:
- determining whether forwarding of data between the WWAN and the plurality of client devices is permitted based on a network policy;
- and
- in response to determining that forwarding is permitted, forward data between the WWAN and the plurality of client devices via the WLAN modem while applying respective network usage policies for each of the plurality of client devices.
