Abstract
Various arrangements for using a short-range wireless communication link are presented herein. A session configuration can be performed between a pair of true wireless earbuds and an audio source device in which a single connected isochronous stream (CIS) is established to transmit a monophonic audio stream. After performing the session configuration, the primary earbud can receive an audio packet transmitted on the single CIS addressed. Despite the audio packet being successfully received by the primary earbud, a negative acknowledgement may be transmitted to the audio source device in response to determining that data of the audio packet has not yet been transmitted a predefined number of times.

A method for using a short-range wireless communication link, the method comprising:
- performing a session configuration between a pair of true wireless earbuds and an audio source device in which a single connected isochronous stream (CIS) is established to transmit a monophonic audio stream from the audio source device to the pair of true wireless earbuds, wherein
- the pair of true wireless earbuds comprising a primary earbud and a secondary earbud;
- after performing the session configuration, receiving, by the primary earbud, an audio packet transmitted on the single CIS addressed to only the primary earbud;
- determining, by the primary earbud, that the audio packet was successfully received by the primary earbud;
- determining, by the primary earbud, that data of the audio packet has not yet been transmitted a predefined number of times;
- and
- despite determining that the audio packet was successfully received by the primary earbud, transmitting a negative acknowledgement to the audio source device in response to determining that data of the audio packet has not yet been transmitted a predefined number of times.
A pair of true wireless earbuds, comprising:
- a primary earbud, comprising a first speaker, a first processing system, and a first wireless communication interface;
- and
- a secondary earbud, comprising a second speaker, a second processing system, and a second wireless communication interface, wherein:
- the secondary earbud is not physically connected with the primary earbud and the primary earbud is configured to:
- perform a session configuration with an audio source device in which a single connected isochronous stream (CIS) is established to transmit a monophonic audio stream from the audio source device to the primary earbud;
- after performing the session configuration, receive an audio packet transmitted on the single CIS addressed to only the primary earbud;
- determine that the audio packet was successfully received by the primary earbud;
- determine that data of the audio packet has not yet been transmitted a predefined number of times;
- and
- despite determining that the audio packet was successfully received by the primary earbud, transmit a negative acknowledgement to the audio source device in response to determining that data of the audio packet has not yet been transmitted a predefined number of times
