Managing usage of components of an audio communication device in stereo and mono modes

A method at an electronic device, the method comprising:

• determining that a first component and a second component of an audio communication device are wirelessly connected to the electronic device for operation in a stereo mode;
• determining, based at least in part on past usage of the audio communication device by a user, that the first component is a preferred component of the user in a mono mode and that the second component is a non-preferred component of the user in the mono mode;
• and
• selecting the second component as a primary component for use in the stereo mode and the first component as a secondary component for use in the stereo mode.

A system, comprising:

• a processing system to:
• determine that a first component and a second component of an audio communication device are wirelessly connected to an electronic device for operation in a stereo mode;
• determine, based at least in part on past usage of the audio communication device by a user, that the first component is a preferred component of the user in a mono mode and that the second component is a non-preferred component of the user in the mono mode;
• and
• select the second component as a primary component for use in the stereo mode and the first component as a secondary component for use in the stereo mode.
