Headset for use within the interior of a helmet

Abstract

A headset for use with helmets includes first and second communication units coupled by a compliant connector that elastically deforms within a helmet interior to bias the communication units toward interior surfaces for stable retention. In some embodiments the connector is telescopic; in others it includes a spring. Additional features can include a microphone, a wireless communications unit, a battery, and a protective sheath. Also disclosed is a headset system configured for external attachment to helmet straps, including an enclosure that receives a communication unit via a snap-fit or friction-fit, a strap organizer with guides, and one or more fastener straps that form a back loop to secure the assembly to helmet straps. Optional elements include a tongue with a notch for Y-type straps and a keyhole opening to improve sound transmission. These configurations provide secure, adaptable audio or communication capability across a range of helmet types and use conditions.
