A sound attenuator for use with a generator having an enclosure is disclosed. The enclosure includes a frame, a first side panel comprising an air inlet removably attached to the frame, and a second side panel comprising an exhaust outlet removably attached to the frame. The sound attenuator is attachable to the frame in lieu of the first side panel or the second side panel. The sound attenuator can comprise an open end facing an interior of the enclosure, a second end positioned opposite the open end, and a converging profile extending between the open end and the second end. A kit can comprise a first sound attenuator to replace the first side panel and a second sound attenuator to replace the second side panel. The kit can also comprise sound attenuators for reducing sound energy traveling through an air duct passing through an alternator and/or engine of the generator.
A generator assembly, comprising:
A sound attenuator for use with a generator, wherein the generator comprises an engine, an alternator driven by the engine, and an enclosure, wherein the engine and the alternator are positioned in an interior space of the enclosure, and wherein the enclosure comprises a frame, a first panel removably attached to the frame, wherein the first panel comprises an air inlet, a second panel removably attached to the frame, wherein the second panel comprises an exhaust outlet, the sound attenuator comprising:
A method of attenuating sound emitted by a generator, the generator comprising an enclosure, the enclosure comprising a frame, a front panel, a back panel opposite the front panel, a first side attached to the frame, a second side opposite the first side, the method comprising providing a sound attenuator configured to replace the first side.
