Abstract
A generator comprising a frame defining an interior space, a removable rear panel, and a lid movable between an open position and a closed position is disclosed. When the lid is in its closed position, the lid extends over the interior space. When the lid is in its open position, the lid is positioned entirely above the interior space and the rear panel such that the rear panel can be detached from the frame so that a technician can access at least a portion of the interior space without having to detach the lid.

A generator, comprising:
- an engine;
- an alternator driven by the engine;
- and
- an enclosure, wherein the engine and the alternator are positioned in the enclosure, and wherein the enclosure comprises:
- a frame;
- a front panel attached to the frame;
- a rear panel removably attached to the frame, wherein the rear panel is positioned opposite the front panel;
- a first lateral side panel attached to the frame, wherein the first lateral side panel comprises an air inlet;
- a second lateral side panel attached to the frame, wherein the second lateral side panel comprises an exhaust outlet, and wherein the second lateral side panel is positioned opposite the first lateral side panel;
- a bottom panel attached to the frame, wherein the front panel, the rear panel, the first lateral side panel, the second lateral side panel, and the bottom panel define an enclosed space having an open top;
- and
- a lid movably attached to the frame by a first hinge and a second hinge, wherein the lid is movable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lid covers the open top when the lid is in its closed position, and wherein the entire lid is positioned vertically above the frame when the lid is in its open position such that the rear panel can be removed from the enclosure while the lid is in its open position.
An enclosure for a generator, the enclosure comprising:
- a frame;
- a front panel attached to the frame;
- a rear panel removably attached to the frame, wherein the rear panel is positioned opposite the front panel;
- a first lateral side panel attached to the frame, wherein the first lateral side panel comprises an air inlet;
- a second lateral side panel attached to the frame, wherein the second lateral side panel comprises an exhaust outlet, wherein the second lateral side panel is positioned opposite the first lateral side panel, and wherein the front panel, the rear panel, the first lateral side panel, and the second lateral side panel define an interior space;
- and
- a lid movably attached to the frame, wherein the lid is movable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lid covers the interior space when the lid is in its closed position, and wherein the lid is not positioned directly behind the rear panel when the lid is in its open position such that the rear panel can be removed from the enclosure while the lid is in its open position.
A generator, comprising:
- an engine;
- an alternator driven by the engine;
- and
- an enclosure, wherein the engine and the alternator are positioned in an interior space defined in the enclosure, and wherein the enclosure comprises:
- a frame, wherein a portion of the frame defines a top plane;
- a front panel attached to the frame;
- a rear panel removably attached to the frame, wherein the rear panel is positioned opposite the front panel;
- a first lateral side panel attached to the frame, wherein the first lateral side panel comprises an air inlet;
- a second lateral side panel attached to the frame, wherein the second lateral side panel comprises an exhaust outlet, and wherein the second lateral side panel is positioned opposite the first lateral side panel;
- and
- a lid movably attached to the frame, wherein the lid is movable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lid covers the interior space when the lid is in its closed position, and wherein the lid does not extend below the top plane when the lid is in its open position such that the rear panel can be removed from the enclosure while the lid is in its open position.
