A secondary battery, comprising an electrode assembly and a tab, wherein the electrode assembly comprises a negative electrode plate, the negative electrode plate comprises a negative current collector and a negative active layer disposed on at least one surface of the negative current collector, wherein the negative current collector comprises a first edge and a second edge opposite to each other in a first direction;

• the tab extends out of the electrode assembly through the first edge along the first direction;
• the negative active layer comprises a first edge region provided with a plurality of first strip-shaped grooves;
• the first edge region covers the first edge and extends toward the second edge;
• in the first direction, the first edge region comprises a first end portion located at the first edge and a second end portion opposite to the first end portion;
• at least one of the first strip-shaped grooves extends from the first end portion to the second end portion;
• and a width of the first edge region is greater than or equal to 1 mm.
