System for commercial services or facilities

A system for identifying devices eligible for interaction in a wireless environment, the system comprising:

• a mobile device configured to detect short-range wireless signals transmitted by nearby devices;
• and
• a management component communicatively coupled to the mobile device via a network,
• wherein the management component is configured to transmit to the mobile device a set of authorized device identifiers corresponding to devices permitted for interaction, and wherein the mobile device is configured to:
• receive the set of authorized device identifiers from the management component;
• detect short-range wireless signals transmitted by a plurality of devices located near the mobile device;
• obtain device identifiers from the detected short-range wireless signals;
• compare the obtained device identifiers with the authorized device identifiers locally on the mobile device;
• and
• identify devices eligible for interaction based on matches between the obtained device identifiers and the authorized device identifiers,
• wherein the comparison is performed without transmitting identifiers associated with detected wireless signals to the management component.

A system for identifying devices eligible for interaction by a mobile device, the system comprising:

• a mobile device;
• a plurality of devices configured to transmit short-range wireless signals;
• and
• a management component communicatively coupled to the mobile device via a network,
• wherein the management component is configured to transmit to the mobile device a list of authorized device identifiers,
• wherein each device is configured to transmit, via short-range wireless communication, a wireless signal containing a device identifier,
• wherein the mobile device is configured to:
• detect short-range wireless signals transmitted by devices located in proximity to the mobile device;
• extract device identifiers from the detected wireless signals;
• compare the extracted device identifiers with the authorized device identifiers received from the management component;
• and
• enable interaction with a device only when the extracted device identifier matches one of the authorized device identifiers.

A method for enabling interaction with devices using a mobile device, the method comprising:

• receiving, at the mobile device from a management component via a network, a list of authorized device identifiers corresponding to devices permitted for interaction;
• detecting short-range wireless signals transmitted by devices located near the mobile device;
• obtaining device identifiers from the detected short-range wireless signals;
• comparing the obtained device identifiers with the list of authorized device identifiers received from the management component;
• and
• determining, based on the comparison performed locally on the mobile device, which of the detected devices are eligible for interaction.

A mobile device configured to enable interaction with devices, the mobile device comprising:

• a short-range wireless communication interface;
• and
• a processor configured to:
• receive, from a management component via a network, a list of authorized device identifiers corresponding to devices permitted for interaction;
• detect short-range wireless signals transmitted by nearby devices;
• obtain device identifiers from the detected short-range wireless signals;
• compare the obtained device identifiers with the list of authorized device identifiers;
• and
• determine which of the detected devices are eligible for interaction based on the comparison.
