Abstract
An optical light package includes an optical output lens, an optical filter located thereunder and between the output lens and LEDS, a tray of LEDs arrayed on a stage mounted on a linear comb based MEMS device that is distributed in such a way that the stage is movable, and a driver that controls movement of the stage.
Claims20
A method of optical multiplexing comprising:
- moving a stage mounted on a MEMS array, wherein the stage carries an array of light emitting elements (LEEs);
- projecting light from the LEEs through an optical lens fixed relative to the MEMS array;
- and
- synchronizing activation of individual LEEs with movement of the stage such that light from the LEEs is selectively directed to different viewer positions in space.

An optical multiplexing package comprising:
- an optical lens;
- an array of light emitting elements (LEEs) on a movable stage mounted on a MEMS array, wherein the array of LEEs projects light through the optical lens and is simultaneously visible to different viewers located at different positions in space;
- a driver configured to control movement of the stage;
- and
- a sensor integrated into a CMOS structure on the movable stage, the sensor configured to provide real-time feedback to the driver about position and timing of the movable stage.
2 more elements
A light field display system comprising:
- a substrate carrying a plurality of optical multiplexing packages, each optical multiplexing package comprising an optical lens, an array of LEEs on a MEMS-driven movable stage, a driver, and a sensor providing real-time stage position feedback to the driver;
- a content server configured to render light field content in real time;
- and
- a rendering processor operatively coupled to the content server and to the plurality of optical multiplexing packages, the rendering processor configured to generate view-dependent content for each optical multiplexing package based on a spatial map of viewer positions.
