A method for analyzing a sialyl glycan to which sialic acid is linked is provided, the method comprising: a step of preparing a first sample containing a first modified body derived from the sialyl glycan and a second sample containing a second modified body derived from the sialyl glycan; a step of analyzing each of the first sample and the second sample by a chromatography method or an electrophoresis method to obtain first analysis data derived from the first sample and second analysis data derived from the second sample, a step of comparing the first analysis data and the second analysis data; and a step of determining that the sialic acid linked to the sialyl glycan includes at least one selected from the group consisting of α2,3-sialic acid, α2,8-sialic acid, and α2,9-sialic acid, when a mobility attributed to the first modified body shown in the first analysis data and a mobility attributed to the second modified body shown in the second analysis data are different, wherein the first modified body is a compound generated by esterification, amidation, or both of the sialic acid linked to the sialyl glycan, and the second modified body is a compound generated by esterification, amidation, or both of the sialic acid linked to the sialyl glycan, other than the α2,3-sialic acid, the α2,8-sialic acid, and the α2,9-sialic acid.
