Abstract
Devices, systems, and methods for controlling insects in a smoke detector device are described herein. One insect controlling smoke detector device, includes a housing having a smoke detecting chamber formed therein, a light source directing a light beam through the smoke detecting chamber, a light sensor to receive a portion of the light beam and analyze the received light beam to determine whether smoke particles are present in the chamber, and an insecticide injecting apparatus to inject insecticide into the chamber.
Claims20
An insect controlling self-testing smoke detector device of a fire alarm system, comprising:
- a housing having a smoke detecting chamber formed therein;
- a light source directing a light beam through the smoke detecting chamber;
- a light sensor to receive a portion of the light beam;
- a particulate injecting apparatus to inject particulate into the chamber;
- and
- a controller that receives data regarding the portion of the light beam received by the light sensor and analyzes the data to determine whether smoke particles are present in the chamber or whether there are insects in the chamber and initiates a self-test function on the smoke detector device.
An insect controlling self-testing smoke detector device of a fire alarm system, comprising:
- a housing having a smoke detecting chamber formed therein;
- a light source directing a light beam through the smoke detecting chamber;
- a light sensor to receive a portion of the light beam;
- a particulate injecting apparatus to inject particulate into the chamber;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- initiate a self-test of the smoke detector device by activating the particulate injecting apparatus;
- receive data regarding the portion of the light beam received by the light sensor;
- and
- analyze the data to determine whether smoke particles are present in the chamber or whether there are insects in the chamber.
An insect controlling self-testing smoke detector device of a fire alarm system, comprising:
- a processor;
- a memory that stores instructions executable by the processor that when executed, cause the processor to:
- initiate a self-test of the smoke detector device by releasing particulate into a smoke detecting chamber of the smoke detector device;
- receive data regarding a portion of a light beam received by a light sensor associated with the smoke detecting chamber;
- analyze the data to determine whether smoke particles are present in the chamber or whether there are insects in the chamber;
- and
- initiate a release of insecticide into the chamber responsive to determining there are insects in the chamber.
