Abstract
Embodiments provide a force sensing apparatus comprising: (a) a sheet have first and second opposing surfaces, comprising a material have a compressibility normal to the surfaces of the sheet and a stretchability parallel to the surfaces of the sheet; (b) one or more first conductive elements mounted with the first surface of the sheet; (c) one or more second conductive elements mounted with the second surface of the sheet, where the first and second conductive elements are configured such that current does not directly flow between them, and such that an alternating signal supplied to a first conductive element inductively couples to a second conductive element and produces a responsive alternating signal.
