Abstract
Magnetic tactile sensors with magnetic field immunity are disclosed. In one aspect, a magnetic tactile sensor includes an array of tactile sensor cells. Each of the tactile sensor cells includes a magnetic field source, and a plurality of magnetoresistive (MR) sensors arranged in a bridge circuit. The bridge circuit is configured to output a signal indicative of a force applied to the magnetic tactile sensor based on movement of the magnetic field source relative to the MR sensors. The MR sensors are arranged such that the signal output by the bridge circuit is substantially unaffected by an external magnetic field.

A tactile sensor cell, comprising:
- a magnetic field source, and
- a plurality of magnetoresistive (MR) sensors arranged in a bridge circuit, the bridge circuit configured to output a signal indicative of a force applied to the tactile sensor cell based on movement of the magnetic field source relative to the MR sensors,
- wherein the MR sensors are arranged such that the signal output by the bridge circuit is substantially unaffected by an external magnetic field.
A magnetic tactile sensor, comprising:
- an array of tactile sensor cells, each of the tactile sensor cells including:
- a magnetic field source, and
- a plurality of magnetoresistive (MR) sensors arranged in a bridge circuit, the bridge circuit configured to output a signal indicative of a force applied to the magnetic tactile sensor based on movement of the magnetic field source relative to the MR sensors,
- wherein the MR sensors are arranged such that the signal output by the bridge circuit is substantially unaffected by an external magnetic field.
A robot, comprising:
- an end effector configured to grasp an object, the end effector having a magnetic tactile sensor configured to detect a force between the end effector and the object, the magnetic tactile sensor comprising an array of tactile sensor cells, each of the tactile sensor cells including:
- a magnetic field source, and
- a plurality of magnetoresistive (MR) sensors arranged in a bridge circuit, the bridge circuit configured to output a signal indicative of a force applied to the magnetic tactile sensor based on movement of the magnetic field source relative to the MR sensors,
- wherein the MR sensors are arranged such that the signal output by the bridge circuit is substantially unaffected by an external magnetic field.
