Abstract
A lubricating system configured to provide a lubricating oil from a lubricant reservoir to a fluid end by use of a pump. The lubricating system has a plurality of check valves that each have an elastomeric insert. The lubricating system also has at least one pressure relief valve that is configured to re-rout lubricant to the lubricant reservoir when needed to stabilize pressure within the system. The lubricating system uses a pump drive controller and at least one sensor to selectively turn the pump on and off.
Claims20
A lubrication system configured for use with a high-pressure fluid pump, the lubrication system comprising:
- a lubricant reservoir;
- a first pump connected to the lubricant reservoir;
- a fluid end of a second pump;
- a plurality of check valves, wherein each check valve is connected to both the first pump and the fluid end;
- at least one first conduit interconnecting the plurality of check valves and the first pump;
- at least one pressure relief valve;
- a second conduit interconnecting the at least one pressure relief valve and the lubricant reservoir;
- and
- a relief manifold;
- in which the plurality of check valves and the at least one pressure relief valve are attached to the relief manifold.
A lubrication system for use with a high-pressure fracturing pump, the lubrication system comprising:
- a lubricant reservoir configured to contain a lubricating medium;
- a pump configured to pressurize the lubricating medium, the pump comprising at least one reciprocating plunger;
- a sensor configured to measure a physical characteristic and provide an output;
- a pump drive controller configured to selectively turn a pump drive on and off based on the output received from the sensor;
- at least one pressure relief valve;
- a relief manifold;
- and
- a plurality of check valves, each check valve comprising:
- a body defining a groove formed therein;
- a guide stem projecting from a first end of the body;
- a plurality of legs projecting from a second end of the body;
- and
- an insert situated within the groove;
- wherein the body has a maximum diameter that is greater than 1 inch.
A lubrication system for use with a high-pressure fracturing pump, the lubrication system comprising:
- a lubricant reservoir configured to contain a lubricating medium;
- a pump connected to the lubricant reservoir, the pump comprising a plurality of reciprocating lubricant plungers, each plunger configured to move the lubricating medium through the lubrication system;
- a plurality of check valves configured to connect the pump to a fluid end assembly, each check valve comprising:
- a body defining a groove;
- and
- an elastomeric insert situated in the groove;
- in which the body has a radial diameter of greater than 1 inch;
- a plurality of pressure relief valves connected to both the pump and the plurality of check valves;
- and
- a relief manifold.
