Thermistor flow path

A fluid pump comprising:

• a motor positioned within a housing;
• a pump element attached to the motor, wherein rotation of the pump element generates an outward pressure that moves a fluid through a fluid path that includes an inlet and an outlet;
• and
• an accessory fluid path in communication with the outlet of the fluid path, wherein the pump element and the outward pressure direct an excess portion of the fluid through the accessory fluid path, the accessory fluid path having a portion that defines a lower restriction for providing a continuous flow of the excess portion of the fluid through the accessory fluid path and to the pump element, wherein
• the housing includes contours that define a temperature sensing portion of the accessory fluid path in communication with a thermistor, wherein the contours align with one side of an outer wall of the housing;
• the fluid path and the contours are positioned at opposing ends of the housing;
• the continuous flow of the excess portion of the fluid is directed between the opposing ends of the housing and between a portion of the motor and the outer wall;
• and
• the portion of the accessory fluid path defining the lower restriction is configured to maintain a temperature of the continuous flow of the excess portion of the fluid within the contours to be similar to a temperature of the fluid entering the fluid path.
