Abstract
A ladder including light sources, safety features, sensors, a controller, and output signals to provide ambient lighting proximate to the ladder in a workspace and to alert the user to operating conditions and to aid the user in the safe operation of the ladder.
Claims21
A ladder, comprising:
- left and right uprights interconnected by a plurality of rungs, including a bottommost rung;
- at least one longitudinal cavity fixed and extending vertically along at least one of the left and right uprights;
- at least one light source disposed at least partially within said at least one longitudinal cavity and configured to illuminate a work area;
- a power source in electrical communication with the at least one light source;
- a controller in electrical communication with the at least one light source and adapted to generate a control signal, the control signal adapted to control at least one aspect associated with the at least one light source;
- and
- a set of safety features in electrical communication with the controller and adapted to receive or generate a set of safety signals.
4 more elements
A ladder, comprising:
- left and right uprights interconnected by a plurality of rungs, wherein said left and right uprights are canted so they diverge from each other on a front side and converge toward each other on a rear side, wherein said rungs are offset toward said rear side of said left and right uprights;
- each left and right upright defining a substantially “C” shaped cross-sectional profile along a length with first and second outwardly-projecting legs connected together by a spanning leg, wherein the first leg is thicker than the second leg;
- each first leg defining a longitudinal cavity extending a length of the respective upright;
- and
- a light source disposed within each longitudinal cavity and configured to emit light outward from said ladder to provide ambient lighting proximate to the ladder.
