Paper treatment agent, paper using same, and method for improving texture of paper

Abstract

Provided are a paper treatment agent that forms gel on paper when applied thereto to thereby retain moisture, originating from the treatment agent, on the paper and impart a smooth and sleek feel that is unique to the gel on the paper as well as a paper using the same and a method for enhancing the texture of the paper. The paper treatment agent according to the present invention includes (A) a polyhydric alcohol; (B) at least one selected from an alkyl phosphate ester salt and a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether phosphate ester salt with each alkyl group having 6 to 28 carbon atoms; and (C) water, wherein the water (C) is contained therein in an amount greater than 10% by mass and less than 40% by mass.
