Process for producing a palm oil fraction using seeds

A process for producing a hard palm mid fraction (hard PMF), which comprises:

• a) cooling a liquid pre-mixture of a palm olein starting material and a solvent, and obtaining a mixture comprising the solvent and solids from the palm olein starting material;
• and
• b) separating the mixture obtained in step a) into a solid fraction and a liquid fraction, the solid fraction being the hard PMF;
• wherein a seeding agent comprising solid fat is added in step a) at a temperature that is in the metastable solubility zone of the pre-mixture of palm olein starting material and solvent;
• and
• wherein the liquid pre-mixture of a palm olein starting material and a solvent in step a) is cooled at a speed in a range of from 0.1 to 0.8° C. per minute;
• and
• wherein a seeding agent comprising solid fat is added in step a) at a temperature is in a range of from 7° C. to 14° C.;
• and
• wherein the mixture of solvent and solids from the palm olein starting material is cooled in step a) until a temperature of from 4° C. to 8° C., is reached.
