Abstract
A hydrocarbon composition derived at least in part from non-petroleum or renewal feedstocks is disclosed that includes hydrocarbons having a carbon-14 (14C) to carbon-12 (12C) isotope ratio (14C/12C) from 1.00 × 10-15 to about 1.35 × 10-12 as determined by accelerator mass spectrometry. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the hydrocarbons exhibit a 14C/12C isotope ratio of about 1.35 × 10-12. The hydrocarbons may include one or more of aromatic compounds, isoparaffins, n-paraffins, and naphthenic compounds.
Claims20
A hydrocarbon composition derived at least in part from non-petroleum or renewable feedstocks comprising:
- hydrocarbons having a carbon-14 (14C) to carbon-12 (12C) isotope ratio (14C/12C) from 1.00 X 10-15 1to .35 X 10-12 as determined by accelerator mass spectrometry, wherein at least some of the hydrocarbons have a 14C/12C of about 1.35 X 10-12 and wherein the hydrocarbons comprise at least one of aromatic compounds, isoparaffins, n-paraffins, and naphthenic compounds.
A hydrocarbon composition derived at least in part from gums and/or resins comprising:
- hydrocarbons having a carbon-14 (14C) to carbon-12 (12C) isotope ratio (14C/12C) from 1.00 X 10-1513to 1.35 X 10-12 as determined by accelerator mass spectrometry, wherein at least some of the hydrocarbons have a 14C/12C of about 1.35 X 10-12;
- and wherein the hydrocarbons comprise at least one of aromatic compounds, isoparaffins, n-paraffins, and naphthenic compounds.
