A vehicle receiver hitch stowage device and method of use are disclosed. The stowage device includes a rectangular steel plate with apertures for mechanical fastening to side wall of a truck bed. A cylindrical steel rod is welded perpendicularly to a center point of the plate and has an aperture near its proximal end for receiving a hitch pin to secure a receiver hitch. The plate's thickness is approximately 3/16 inches, each side measures about 5 inches, and the rod has a length of about 4 inches with a diameter of about 5/8 inches. The plate can be made from carbon or stainless steel and may have a textured surface with rounded vertices.
