Provided is a device for inverting the articulation of the shoulder of a container produced from a plastics preform having a shoulder articulable between an extended position and a retracted position. The device includes at least one framework through which a conveyor conveying containers along a path between an inlet and an outlet can extend. An arm mounted on the framework can bear a belt stretched between a driving pulley, a driven pulley, and a squashing pulley extending therebetween such that the belt has an upper strand and a lower strand extending in line with the conveyor. The lower strand has a squashing segment extending between the driven pulley and the squashing pulley to form an angle of 1.5° to 5° with the horizontal, and a pressure reducing segment extending between the squashing pulley and the driving pulley to form an angle of −2° to −7° with the horizontal.
