Abstract
A safety device for an equipment containing potentially flammable and/or potentially explosive media, such as for example a fuel cell. The safety device includes a housing with an internal chamber for encapsulating the equipment. To improve the safety device for use on vehicles, especially aircraft, the safety device includes a flexible membrane separating a gas-tight volume from the chamber wherein the gas-tight volume is filled during operation with a filling gas differing from the media. The flexible membrane can be provided in a form of a balloon filled with the filling gas and located within the chamber, especially in a top portion of the chamber.

A safety device for an equipment containing potentially flammable and/or potentially explosive media, the safety device comprising
- a housing with an internal chamber for encapsulating the equipment and
- a flexible membrane separating a gas-tight volume from the chamber wherein the gas-tight volume is filled during operation with a filling gas differing from the media.
