Transdermal therapeutic system for the transdermal administration of huperzine A comprising a huperzine A-containing layer structure, said huperzine A-containing layer structure comprising:

• A) a backing layer;
• and
• B) a huperzine A-containing layer;
• wherein said huperzine A-containing layer is a huperzine A-containing matrix layer comprising:
• i) huperzine A;
• and
• ii) at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of silicone polymers, polyisobutylenes, acrylate polymers and styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymers;
• and
• iii) at least one additive selected from crystallization inhibitors, permeation enhancers and combinations thereof.
