Absorbent article with improved core wrap

An absorbent article, comprising:

• a liquid pervious topsheet,
• a liquid impervious backsheet,
• an absorbent core positioned between the liquid pervious topsheet and the liquid impervious backsheet, the absorbent core comprising at least one core wrap sheet and an absorbent material wrapped by the at least one core wrap sheet, the absorbent material being arranged such that at least one channel is formed, wherein less absorbent material per surface area is present in the at least one channel compared to an area around the at least one channel, wherein preferably substantially no absorbent material is present in the at least one channel;
• wherein the at least one core wrap sheet is arranged such that at least one overlapping area is formed where three layers of sheet material are arranged one above the other, wherein said at least one overlapping area overlaps at least in part with the at least one channel, and wherein said at least three layers are attached to each other in at least a portion of said at least one channel, wherein the at least one core wrap sheet comprises a first core wrap sheet and a second core wrap sheet, and wherein the first core wrap sheet is wrapped as a C around the absorbent material such that a first and second overlapping area is formed where three laver of sheet material are arranged one above the other, and wherein said at least one channel comprises a first channel overlapping at least in part with the first overlapping area and a second channel overlapping at least in part with the second overlapping area.

An absorbent article, comprising:

• a first outer sheet and a second outer sheet, wherein one of said first and second outer sheets is a liquid pervious topsheet and the other one is a liquid impervious backsheet (200),
• an absorbent core positioned between the first outer sheet and the second outer sheet, the absorbent core comprising a first core wrap sheet facing the first outer sheet, a second core wrap sheet facing the second outer sheet, and an absorbent material between the first core wrap sheet and the second core wrap sheet such that at least one channel is formed, wherein less absorbent material per surface area is present in the at least one channel compared to an area around the at least one channel, wherein preferably substantially no absorbent material is present in the at least one channel;
• wherein the first core wrap sheet is folded as a C around the absorbent material and around the second core wrap sheet so that folded portions of the first core wrap sheet overlap with the second core wrap sheet,
• wherein an adhesive layer is applied on the second outer sheet on a side facing the second core wrap sheet and the folded portions of the first core wrap sheet and no adhesive is applied between an outer side of the second core wrap sheet facing the second outer sheet and the folded portions of the first core wrap sheet.
